PublishersA SIMPLE ALGEBRAIC PROOF OF FARKAS ' SLEMMA AND RELATED THEOREMSC
A proof is given of Farkas's lemma based on a new theorem pertaining to orthogonal matrices. It is claimed that this theorem is slightly more general than Tucker's theorem, which concerns skew-symmetric matrices and which may itself be derived simply from the new theorem. Farkas's lemma and other theorems of the alternative then follow trivially from Tucker's theorem.
متن کاملA simple proof of Zariski's Lemma
Our aim in this very short note is to show that the proof of the following well-known fundamental lemma of Zariski follows from an argument similar to the proof of the fact that the rational field $mathbb{Q}$ is not a finitely generated $mathbb{Z}$-algebra.
متن کامل4 Algorithms for modular arithmetic
A symmetric encryption scheme allows Alice and Bob to privately exchange a sequence of messages in the presence of an eavesdropper Eve. We will assume that Alice and Bob share a random secret key K. How Alice and Bob managed to share a key without the adversary’s knowledge is not going to be our concern here. The encryption scheme consists of an encryption algorithm E that takes as input the ke...
متن کاملModular Termination and Combinability for Superposition Modulo Counter Arithmetic
Modularity is a highly desirable property in the development of satisfiability procedures. In this paper we are interested in using a dedicated superposition calculus to develop satisfiability procedures for (unions of) theories sharing counter arithmetic. In the first place, we are concerned with the termination of this calculus for theories representing data structures and their extensions. T...
